Top Secret! was one of those movies that I watched repeatedly as a kid (like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Stripes or Star Wars). I haven’t thought about it in years. I figure I just outgrew it, that the humor was no longer appealing to my 30 year-old, mature self. Ha. After reading Adam’s highlights from the recent screening, I remembered all my favorite bits. And, damn, if I didn’t want to watch it again.

I would have loved to be at the screening, hosted by “Weird” Al Yankovic (!!!!).

People who now obsess about government debt have it backwards. The problem isn’t the debt. The problem is just the opposite. It’s that at a time like this, when consumers and businesses and exports can’t do it, government has to spend more to get Americans back to work and recharge the economy. Then – after people are working and the economy is growing — we can pay down that debt.
